If an old timer who has lived in the neighborhood 50 years says, "Don't use your GPS, just go three blocks, turn left at the McDonald's, look for a dirt road on your right, and take it until it forks," what will you do? You will still use the GPS. You will then get lost, wander around trying to get back to where you started, say "What did that old man say?" and then, two hours later, go three blocks, turn left at the McDonald's, find a dirt road on your right, and take it until it forks. But you would never put too much faith in technology to solve your problems. Nope, not you.
