Joe Bob’s Thought of the Day: GPS Edition

If an old timer who has lived in the neighborhood 50 years says, "Don't use your GPS, just go three blocks, turn left at the McDonald's, look for a dirt road on your right, and take it until it forks," what will you do? You will still use the GPS. You will then get lost, wander around trying to get back to where you started, say "What did that old man say?" and then, two hours later, go three blocks, turn left at the McDonald's, find a dirt road on your right, and take it until it forks. But you would never put too much faith in technology to solve your problems. Nope, not you.

I am recalling a story I read about a few hundred people all coming back from a concert near Denver who all got stuck on the same muddy road that Google sent them down on the supposed way back to the Airport. Apparently the tow truck company found a way to hack the algorithm.

Segway into AI ... [Dark Cloud Rolls In]

It gets tricky when the same old timers go on about death curses…

I actually used to write shit down until I remembered back in the day. Come to think of it i should now but that damn GPS on my phone conveniently keeps the phone unlocked so that I can make my preferred music selections on the Spotify as I barrel down the Los Angeles freeways

Lol I would listen to the old timer no sense in waisting time when he knows where to go 😆

Just thinking of the conversations one could have with Joe Bob on the road. Like a redneck Zen master. Awe inspiring.

hahaha! i Disagree! come to MA And RI

I still like maps, big paper maps. It makes me feel like a treasure hunter or a pirate. Let's go hunting for that booty and treasured chest.

If there's one thing I've learned from horror movies - always listen to old timers telling you where you should and shouldn't go!

Never come to MA or RI people will literally give you directions like that. "Turn left at the old stop and shop, go right at the old Texaco station and if you hit the packie you went to fah"
