But his world-building is still the most intricate and well-crafted in all of mainstream fantasy, he created complete, working languages out of whole cloth for shits and giggles, and though I'll agree his language is maddeningly dense at times, his stories are still beautiful. And the eagles didn't help at first because they were giant assholes who thought they were above the rest of Middle Earth and wouldn't be affected by any of that shit. And then later, when that position became indefensible, Sauron had flying servants of his own who were watching the skies around Mordor. So, uh, I'll show myself out now...
