It wasn't a hard rule until long after Joseph Smith was killed and Utah was settled and was more of a health guideline based on nothing.

Iโve watched folks trade one addiction for religion and become impossibly pious and rabid in their new certainty they are anointed. Religion works like a virus, it is more infectious than smallpox and far more harmful. It grows exponentially by feeding on fear and ecstasy, making suffering and misery into things of unearthly value and Valor. Religious infection canโt waver because withdrawal is actively fought by society. โBunch of numpties want the end days for the taste of blood and drama on their hungry little tongues.
