What Happened to the Beige Box?

Following on from the NetVista, I thought it would be interesting to look at the origins of the beige computer desktop style, and its demise.

This video kicked up a few surprises, including speaking to Carl Feynman, son of Richard Feynman, about his time working at Thinking Machines Corporation. Which, will definitely be put into a video in the near future.

Aren't they called "sleeper PC"? :-) Nice idea

I got my current Ryzen gaming rig deliberately into a beige desktop box and I love it.

I think every PC I've had since the 80s has been a full tower or midi tower. My server is actually a shorter case than my workstation tower. Although the early ones were, of course, beige. WIth big clunking power switches that made very satisfying "CLUNK" sounds.
