Classic sample-based techniques and synthesis - Stream Recording
Added 2023-07-21 15:22:11 +0000 UTCHi, as you might see already this is not the Tech Flex VIP track breakdown I promised. Due to complications with the project files (started when I moved computers) I was not able to salvage the core parts of the track, bass and drums. As a last minute stand-in I decided to look at February's exclusive track - Stardust Dub.
A fair amount of attention to the simple but crucial techniques in building house-style drum loops, the very heavy handed processing used to create detailed and saturated top end while preserving the timbre of other drum hits, and the leads and basses reminiscent of old school rave and techno. All of this is achievable within the box.
I also put in a few words (rambling?) about something on my mind. I find that the journey in creating can feel lonely at times, and at a certain level in my career I felt my struggles began to sound irrelevant and no longer relatable to most people. I'm still trying to work that out - I clawed my way into the dance music scene and have felt I had a lot to prove since the beginning, perhaps now experiencing more support and having more comfort in creating and working in music is simply deserved and not a sign of privilege?
In any case I hope you enjoy this piece of content. I'm planning a more detailed 'guided course' tutorial session for the next month, I still need to find a reason behind teaching/saying anything at all to my Patreon supporters.
