Good morning!
I have mentioned frequently that I get a “word” for the year usually at the end of one year or right at the beginning of the new year. This year has been “determination.” The verse that follows has been a frequent reminder as it pops up in a variety of ways, reminding me to keep on keepin on.
As for us, we have all of these great witnesses who encircle us like clouds. So we must let go of every wound that has pierced us and the sin we so easily fall into. Then we will be able to run life’s marathon race with passion and determination, for the path has been already marked out before us. Hebrews 12:1
I have pulled back from various things due to my jaw situation but I always have this pressing on feeling inside. Determination is that inner drive that pushes when you don’t feel like pushing sometimes.
The part of that verse that I have glossed over all year was the intro and the last phrase. This time when I read it, it struck me.
My dad who passed in February of this year is one of the great witnesses of faith who pushed through many challenges and held strong to the end. My dad definitely was determined.
The path has been already marked before us…….why, oh why, does it not feel like that sometimes? I think part of that is what I know to be true about myself: if I knew that path completely I would say “thanks, God! See ya!” and just run like the wind. But, walking on that path is a daily humble prayer for help and direction…..just the way it is meant to be.
As long as we are still here on this earth, we can be sure God has a purpose for us. It may shift and appear different from one season to the next, but He is not done with us yet!
