Good morning!
I sat at the DMV while my son went off to take his drive test. As I prayed, similar to many prayers before that, I wondered what to pray for. Do I pray for him to pass the test and exit into adulthood that much sooner? Or do I pray that he passes only if the Lord feels he is ready? Or do I selfishly pray that he doesn’t pass so I can keep driving him around and have wonderful conversations along the way?! :)
The best thing about prayer is that it is simply talking to God. So, I prayed that God would guard and protect him and that He would do what He knows is best. I don’t have to know, I can just rest and trust that God does. Of course, there will be pros and cons with any outcome, but those are part of life.
We have the assurance that we are not praying alone. Jesus and the Holy Spirit are interceding for us! So, we just get to talk to them, find our peace in knowing the outcomes are not up to us, and live knowing that we have a Father who loves our kids even more than we do! And, He loves you more than you imagine. So, you better believe He’s got you :)
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. Romans 8:26-27
“He is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf” (NLT) Hebrews 7:25
