Good morning!
Do you think of God as being in control? Many people would think that because of the state of the world or circumstances they are going through, that God must not be in control because otherwise He would …….xyz.
I wonder how many of us subtly think of that when things are hard. But I also wonder why we as humans ever imagine that we could know the mind of God. How many times have we made mistakes that we didn’t realize until later? How many times have we thought a plan was good and then in retrospect it wasn’t good. So, why do we think we know how things should be? It seems prideful to me.
The sovereignty of God means that God knows what is going on and allows certain things to happen because His choice was to design us with free will. That means that sometimes our free will chooses things that aren’t best for us or others. And yet, God says He will work things out for the good of those who love Him. That means if we decide to entrust our life to Him and look to Him, then He will work even bad things into good.
I don’t presume to understand many of the bad things that happen and the pain so many go through. However, what if we are meant to be God’s hands and feet and we keep waiting for Him to do something? What if the things that appear bad are used for so much good that you can’t imagine what life would be like if you hadn’t gone through it? I know many of my friends have endured pain far deeper than I have, and I never mean to make light of any of that. In an eternity perspective, though, could we choose to turn our focus to God’s way of making good out of this situation? What if one person’s life could save dozens and dozens of people if the right perspective was embraced?
He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. 2 Corinthians 1:4 NLT
