What do you trust in?

I think for many of us, we have put our trust in money, financial planning, people, our plans or our ability to execute a plan for our life.

Many times we see those things fail.

Those things were not meant to hold the heaviness of the burden we have put on them. We were designed to trust something that has the capability to handle that heavy burden: Our Father in heaven.

“I want you to trust Me in your times of trouble, so I can rescue you and you can give Me glory.” Psalm 50:15 (TLB)

We trust in things we don’t see all of the time. I heard some good examples recently: we trust that the WiFi signal will allow us to get on the internet. Do we see the WiFi signal?

Do sailors trust that wind will propel their sailboat? Can they see the wind?

Just because we can’t see God doesn’t mean we can’t trust Him. We see the effects of Him all around us. In fact, anytime we see any degree of love in the world, we can be sure God is still present. We are bent toward selfishness and so whenever we see the willingness to love and forgive, we are seeing the heart of God at work.
