Good morning!
Most of us have heard that we should love our enemies, pray for them, and bless them.
“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” Matthew 5:43-44
I think for a big portion of my life I excused myself from that one haha! It wasn’t intentional but it just seemed “normal” that if someone did something or said something or was a contrarian towards me, I felt somewhat justified in being annoyed or upset.
It is so crazy how your heart changes with the act of praying for your enemies in a way that you pray for the loved ones on your list. A friend of mine also talked about blessing people in a way that I visualized differently than before. If I imagine myself as a conduit and as I pray to Jesus, His love for that person flows from Him, through me and to that person in the spiritual realm.
Why should we do this? The cool thing is that it doesn’t just manage one issue, it manages several all at once. It can greatly calm you down, bring instant peace and change the environment. It sets the stage for the other person to potentially have a change of heart or maybe even a change of direction in life. Even if the only thing that happens is you are obedient to God and act in faith, the least that will happen is that you will be blessed. But, the catalyst for change does not come with heaping more anger, frustration or resentment on the flaming fire.
If we individually could be these conduits in the world, we would start to see changes. Since we have been given so many chances and so many forgivenesses over and over, we surely can extend the same to others!
….If you want to be My disciple, follow Me and you will go where I am going……and the Father will shower His favor upon you. From John 12:25-26
