Good morning!
Ask most people what they need to be happy or satisfied in life and I would guess they would say something that could be considered external. For starters, perhaps a relationship, a position at work, a certain amount of money, good health.
More than ever, I can see that nothing external will satisfy or make us happy. All things can come and go. All situations and circumstances change. However, what if we could learn to be happy, content and satisfied no matter what was going on around us?
“I am trained in the secret of overcoming all things, whether in fullness or in hunger. And I find that the strength of Christ’s explosive power infuses me to conquer every difficulty.” Phil 4:13 TPT
Happiness and satisfaction can be steadfast despite anything in personal circumstances or in the world. It is entirely up to our perspective. If we think there is so much going wrong and we dwell on the frustrations, we will work ourselves into a tizzy. (You see this all over the news and social media constantly.) If we recognize God’s sovereign power in all things, all circumstances, all ways, then our act of faith is praise. We can choose a perspective of reframing everything through an act of our will. We praise. We give thanks. We don’t beg and plead as if we are orphans and dad deserted us. We thank Him for the work He is doing and that we are His heirs to the Kingdom.
It might seem child-like or foolish to some, but it is the power of God at work that we can never fully fathom with our human brains. In this perspective of praise in and for all things, we release our need to understand, manipulate or control. We openly surrender to God’s divine power and plan. You can physically and emotionally feel the difference. But, even if you don’t feel it, nevermind. Feelings don’t dictate our behavior. Praise Him anyway. Whether you get the answer you wanted or something better and different, you can be sure God is at work.
I have found that there is nothing more mood-lifting and perspective-changing than praising God in and for the most difficult things. Peace overwhelms me and I come to rest. That is what He desires for you. But He will not force it. If He did, we would not have free will. Therefore, the act of our WILL is the open door to the flood of His power and peace.
“Be cheerful with joyous celebration in every season of life. Let joy overflow, for you are united with the Anointed One!” Phil 4:4 TPT
