Good morning!

“Whatever You give me is all that I’ll need.”

That statement is something I have been practicing saying to God but I notice how often I revert to my laundry list or my dart prayers of “bless so and so” or “please, we need xyz.” I’m sure God doesn’t mind the variety of prayers that come His way, but I have found so much more peace and contentment with the statement above.

There was an “outcast” type of woman who basically said that very thing to Jesus. His reply to her was, “Your faith has healed you.” It was her faith that He highlighted. Not how devout she was, not all the rules she followed (and in this case, didn’t follow, as we shall soon see.)

It was her absolute trust that, no matter what, Jesus would give her what she needed.

Our pastor was talking about the context of this story. The woman who approached Jesus was a Gentile, as Syrophoenician. In those days and in those circles, she was considered an outcast. Unworthy to even approach Him, let alone ask for anything.

How many people do we consider outcasts because of what they believe, their political affiliation, their choice of lifestyle?

Jesus simply wants hearts that will approach Him and He can take care of anything that needs fixing.

Let US have faith that whatever Jesus has for us is all that we need. He also wants to give what other people need, and much of it is probably through us! We are His hands and feet.

Then Jesus answered her, “O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire.” and her daughter was healed instantly. Matthew 15:28
