I honestly couldn't get over the fact that basically everyone movie he parodies is a classic. It's insane how he has such an eye for picking the best things to make fun of and remaining relevant for, what, 30 years or something? Insane.

I thought those scenes were funny. I know it wouldn't work today for obvious reasons but at least the joke was that this guy who preached non-violence was this gun toting action hero rather than something about his ethnicity.

Hey, I still remember those terrible Nike Freestyle commercials inspired by the Stomp musical. Your reference is not lost on me, Scary Movie 2.

Also, trivia, the reason they don’t have kiddie hosts (much) anymore and indeed, for about 20-or-so years when UHF came out, was that the FCC said people in children’s entertainment couldn’t do commercials. So if your host can’t plug products, why have him introduce cartoons? You can just show the cartoons.

The funny part about saying the Raiders and Rambo parodies make the movie timeless is that, at the time, my reaction was “Really? A Raiders parody in 1989?” (Rambo had a new movie in ‘88 but Rambo parodies also seemed overdone at the time...)

Not to give Scary Movie 2 too much credit, because much of the movie is anguish, and the basketball scene lasts way too long, but I did find the way it went from an homage to The Changeling to just people goofing around was kind of a funny tonal shift.

UHF looks like a very enjoyable movie, I had to laugh out loud a couple of times during the re:View. I only knew Weird Al from his parody videos like "Eat It." And "Dare to Be Stupid" is part of the soundtrack of "The Transformers: The Movie" (1986).
