Watching Blizzard: Wednesday already?

Seriously, I have no idea how we got here. But now that we’re here, we’re just going to have to deal with the fact that it’s Wednesday. The week is half-way over, and while I’m sure some of you are looking forward to the weekend, I am just thinking about all the things I haven’t gotten done yet. Like writing this post! Which is totally a thing I do every weekday, without exception!

But talking about writing is not the same as writing. So let’s look at the news. The news from today, of course. What else would we be doing here?

Retribution has arrived in Overwatch

• The event kicked off with a ginormous patch. Yes, ginormous. It’s a word. Look it up!
• But that’s not what anyone’s really excited about, because it’s all about the new skins. So many fabulous new skins.
• Though this doesn’t really relate to Retribution, Jeff Kaplan has assured us that skipping those end of game victory poses won’t actually get you into your next match faster. So you can leisurely enjoy the end of game wrap-up without worry.

Hearthstone’s Witchwood expansion is nearly here!

• The game is coming out tomorrow, but if you want the pre-order bundle remember to order before 11:59 PDT tonight. That’s not very far away, so get to it!
• Matticus has graced us with a rundown of the best (and worst) cards in the expansion that is guaranteed to be 100% accurate. Definitely. There’s just no way he could be wrong.
• And if you don’t like Matticus’ opinions, we have a writeup listing every card in the expansion (all 135 of them!) with commentary by me! It’s clearly much better. (Maybe.)

Now back to our regularly scheduled alpha adventures with Anne!

• Check out Vol’dun, starting with Serpent’s Maw and Skycaller’s Spire…
• … and then move on to explore Shatterstone Harbor and Temple Incursion.

Now on to our not so regularly scheduled alpha adventures with Mitch

• It’s no surprise that he’s finding the weirdest, creepiest things on the alpha. That’s right: it’s time for tea with the alpha’s resident ghost child. And things just get weirder from there.

• Seriously, why aren’t they in the game? You can’t joke about things like this, Blizzard!

WoW’s crazy cultists are at it again

• What with their chanting and counting down.
• We don’t actually know what they’re up to. But they’re up to something.
• Probably.
• Okay, fine, we really just don’t know. But they could be up to something.

And just for our $5+ supporters…

• Scott talks about ability pruning in Battle for Azeroth. Without Artifact abilities, our action bars are feeling a little empty.
