Impulse Post: Skooma's Ridiculous Naming Contest
Added 2020-01-02 02:35:03 +0000 UTCSo over on the Discord, we were discussing potential names for a "normal" town or city for potential new characters to populate in Devious Mundanity, sort of like Deviville is the default for most of Devious World. Because I never met a zany impulsive idea I didn't like (this is a lie I totally have but I'm going with this one), I've decided on a contest to determine the name.
So, this hastily thrown-together contest will have two parts:
Part One: The Story Contest
People who wish to enter should write a short story. How short? Up to you. Be daring, write a sentence-long story if that's your jam. Your deadline is February 1st. Stories should be in a common text file format (.txt, .doc, .pdf, something like that), and can either be sent to me at deviousskooma@gmail.com or transferred to me over Discord. I'll add them to a public post ready to go live on February 2nd.
Stories can essentially be about whatever you want. Feel free to base them off of Devious World stuff or just whatever you feel like writing.
Part Two: Voting
The post that goes up on the second will also be a poll allowing you to vote on which of the stories you liked the best. (Here's where writing that sentence-long story turns into a risk.) The one with the winning story will get to choose the name of the new town, and get their name listed in the Devious Mundanity credits as the winner. All other entrants will also get an honorable mention in the credits.
So, there you go, fire up your own keyboard and see what you can do, if you wish to name a town full of normies! (Just to be clear, I will reserve the right to refuse particularly inappropriate names. I'll give as much leeway as possible, I'm not exactly the overly sensitive sort.)
Edit: Just to be clear, this contest will be open to everyone, not just current patrons. The poll will be public, to make it clear I'm not going to be making any money off of your submissions.
