Changes
Added 2017-10-19 17:01:31 +0000 UTCAlright, it looks like in Patreon’s latest move to give me even less of the money you donate (I absolutely don’t mind them taking some, that’s how this business works, but they just keep grabbing for more), I would have to put all adult content as “Patrons only”. Meaning you’d have to be donating at least a little to see it.
Rather than doing that I’m going to go back to uploading the release files to a file sharing program and linking to them so that everyone can still get the public releases. I still want to keep the releases open to everyone, and rather than bow to Patreon’s attempt to force you to give money to partake of my content at all (money which, again, they’re taking more and more of pretty much every few months), I’ll just have to do a workaround. We’ll see if they then proceed to say you’re not even allowed to link to adult content that’s on a third-party site.
I will have to go back and lock all the old public releases to patrons-only, unfortunately, and possibly remove them later since they’re also cracking down on 100% fictional depictions of various activities. (Amazing, huh? They simultaneously try to make more money off adult content creators and chase a bunch of us off.)
We’ll see how things go moving forward. Patreon’s been very rewarding for being able to make some money and also enjoy the sense of support you all give, but if they keep cutting into things and adding restrictions I may have to start looking into alternatives.

Couldn't just a "You state you are 18 or older to access this content" clickthrough thing work? Since it's not like kids can't just go find porn anywhere on the internet and even use their parent's credit card on it.

2017-10-19 19:55:34 +0000 UTCThe problem here isn't even Patreon, it's the laws surrounding pornographic content. Pornographic content must be kept out of reach for minors, since you need either a paypal or a credit card to pledge Patreon can use their age checks for their own purposes. That simply ensures they have less legal issues to deal with, something they will get to feel harder the bigger they get.

2017-10-19 18:41:58 +0000 UTCI would definitely have you look into alternatives as it does seem that Patreon keeps choking developers more and more (who knew this would happen when one company has a monopoly!). If you find one, give a call, I'll immediately switch over.
