The Return(ish)
Added 2022-05-01 16:07:40 +0000 UTCHey everyone. As you might recall, I made a post before saying I planned to return to updates this month, and that's still the plan. An incremental build will be posted Friday, containing all the bits and pieces I've been working on since I resumed working last month. It's not as much as I liked... it was a rough month in a lot of ways, and seeing it out was the big kicker.
As you might know if you're on the Discord server, my computer died on Friday. Seems the power supply just couldn't take one more summer and blipped itself. (Whether it took anything else with it, I couldn't say. I'll be pulling the hard drives soon and hopefully they're fine.) Since it's five years old it's well out of warranty, and having it RMA'd to the people I bought it from is a bleh possibility both for potential cost and the time it would take. (Before you get into "Oh that's a simple replacement" just trust me that it's not because of the case.) Between its age as a gaming computer as well as the potential time and cost of fixing it, replacing it is the better option. Even then though, it'll be two to three weeks once I order it before I get it, most likely.
What does this mean for Devious World? Well like I said I still intend to put out an incremental on Friday. All of the DW/DM files are near-constantly backed up to the cloud so there's no issue with that. The main issue is having to work on my laptop, which is slightly bleh, and the demotivational factor of all of this. But, I'm gonna be trying to push through.
As I also said in the previous update, I put a stop on the charge for this month because the charges were supposed to be off until I resumed updates, but apparently Patreon only allows you to suspend a month at a time... when I thought I put payments on hold, I really only put it on hold for a month, so April got charged. So no charge for this month even though updates are resuming.
I'm also going to be considering a change to the pricing tiers this month, probably to be put into effect before next month. More on that as I think it out.
