The Patreon Deplatforming Effect

Ultimately, no one wins but the social justice warriors--and they're too busy boycotting everything to spend any money and contribute to the economy. So fucking lame.

Would be interesting to see the figures for January 2018 too as I imagine it was also lower? Most creators aren't posting as much content, and people have less money this time of year? I was trying to track how the comments went from deplatforming to height bias and preconceived stereotyping... but I've failed. I find myself tied. On one hand I want freedom of speech and equality, and yet on the other hand I don't want to give the stage to the more dangerous groups out there. Some stuff out there almost seems like a front for a terrorist cell! Where do you say "stop, this just isn't right"? Do you wait for one of the group to walk into a synagogue and start shooting people... oh wait, that already happened. Research has shown that banning hate speech reduces hate speech on the platform generally. Surely this is what we want? Not to ban absolutely anybody who is slightly off-centre politically however! So now as patreon deplatforming occurs, and the book burning begins... I wonder what's next. Also, why is it the more Trump gets away with, the less the public seem to? It's almost like platforms are trying to over-compensate to fix this! Sadly it won't work. It's just a band-aid over a gaping wound...

If the social media age has taught us anything, stand firm for a few days, and the nobodies will move on to the next crusade. Catering to non-customers is monumentally stupid and deserves any market punishment it gets, lord willing.
