‼️ Story Changes ‼️
Added 2024-01-17 07:12:28 +0000 UTCGood day Numbskulls, yesterday I spent half the day discussing my content with a DM who has more experience in world building and writing stories.
As you may know this whole [Adventurer's Guild] content was never intended to expand, it was just some idea I got from some sort of an ero-visual novel type game, but with how my brain often goes into random tangents I inadvertently built a whole world and backstory around it.
After discussing recent story development and the backstories that's yet to be revealed, the DM advised me to retcon some stuff. (Not all the characters, but at least some of them) Long story short the DM recommended a thematic shift from 'Adventurers that are also prostitutes' to a 'View of the sex lives of the adventurers'.
What's the difference? you may ask, well for one the content will be focused on 'Sex' instead of the 'Sex-work', and quoting the DM:
"People are more progressive now in their views, but concepts like prostitution is still generally frowned upon even on a fantasy setting"
I realized that what I am doing at it's core is selling characters, I would want them to be liked and admired, hence if there's a particular element about the character's line of work or lifestyle that would hinder someone from being fully invested in these characters, then those elements must be reevaluated and reconstructed; at least a part of my brain is telling me that it should.
While I do see the merits to the suggestions the DM gave me, I am still undecided. For one I want to know what you guys think before making any changes.

What this guy said. I like the sound of it. And this still allows you to have some characters keep the dual job line.

2024-01-18 03:02:31 +0000 UTCI think a good mix would be good. I liked that your take was “here’s brothel workers that are also adventurers”. It was a good way to blend different skill sets into the characters.

2024-01-17 23:14:46 +0000 UTCI think that's a nice shift. As much as I like the straight up smut having stories that provide context/situations puts a good weight behind it. And I do like knowing about everybody! That being said I can see some characters, probably those that are retired adventurers, transitioning to be courtesans who operate out of the hall. Compared to adventurers who are more mercenaries in the eyes of the town courtesans can be seen as somewhat respectable and an in-between the common folk and nobles. It also gives the girls a bit of power when it comes to dealings in the town.
