Radne's Visitor part 3.

733 (Present day)

Jakar and I pried the office door open ever so slightly, just enough to see and hear what is going on inside. The conversation between the boss, Radne and this visitor Moris Corbyn is just loud enough for us eavesdroppers to pick up.

The tall man named Moris from what I remember, is the son of a land owner that the boss regularly deals business with. Moris and Radne met a few years ago when my druid friend there was tasked to lift a blight curse afflicting the farm lands, and they hit it off since then.

Radne: "Boss, allow me to get straight to the point. We came here today to discuss the matter concerning my arrangement as a courtesan, Moris and I aim to buy out the contract."

Moris: "We have considered all the difficulties involved Guildmaster, but I'm afraid we can tarry no longer."

The boss was just sitting there staring at them intently with his lifeless unsettling eyes, listening to the couple's attempts to convince him towards a mutually favorable agreement.

To put matters into perspective, let us assume that Radne's contract is worth 7000 gold pieces but what she is offering right now is only worth 5000 gold . Doesn't seem fair now does it?

The boss made no reply and his silence was clearly having a noticeable effect on Radne, her tail is starting to move side to side, something she does unconsciously whenever she's nervous.

Finally Moris broke the silence.

Moris: "My father and I are farmers first before anything else Guildmaster, so we understand you as a businessman and that you have your eyes on profits. I have nothing to offer that's not already being provided to you by my father, all I have is my word and my intentions. And I intend to marry Radne and make her the happiest woman in the world, I ask this of you in good faith for I do not believe I can live on without her by my side"

The boss' face looked like he drank spoiled milk while getting a whiff of a ghoul's armpit. What followed was truly amusing.

Boss: "What the fuck are you saying all this sappy shit to me for? tell that to her father not me! and you Radne!, is this truly what you want?"

Radne: "I gave it a lot of thought boss, and yes I am certain"

The Boss then rummaged through his drawers and produced a roll of parchment, picked up a quill and started to amend the contract while making disgruntled grumbling noises. He then handed it to Radne so she could sign it.

Radne: "Thank you so much boss"

Boss: "I'm losing money over you anyway, you're too picky with clients. Now get out of my office, I have things to do"

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I snuck inside the office right after congratulating Radne on her way out and sat atop of the boss' table.

Breena: "What's with all that unnecessary theatrics you did there? I am pretty sure you could've easily made a counter-offer that would turn everything around."

Boss: "She had that look in her face, she already made up her mind. This is the first time she's doing something for herself, she followed druidic practice because that's what her mother wanted, hell even her working for the guild was something she did not for herself but to fund her brother's studies. I don't want her to think that I'm going easy on her."

Breena: "Is that why you had her running all across West Marsh doing odd jobs the past few days?"

Boss: "Radne is finally taking steps towards her own happiness, I cannot get in the way of that"

Radne is still an adventurer, and no, Moris is just a farmer/land owner๐Ÿคฃ

What a great boss! Sheโ€™ll still be doing adventure work right? Maybe she can teach Moris to be a fighter and he can join along!

I'm happy for her! Radne so sweet. I love how the story is unfolding.
