Red Dead Redemption 2 mod on NexusMods background info

Shortly after I created and published my Red Dead Redemption 2 trainer, I was approached by a user who had a hard time modifying the game field of view and asked for help. As a result, I looked into the related code and updated my trainer with the ability to change FOV in real time.

The user was appreciative and even donated to me on Ko-Fi, then asked for the right to share the mod on Nexus and other platforms.

My response was quite prophetic:

I have had requests to have my file hosted on other platforms but I  don't think the segmentation would help it. I would rather have all the  feedback limited to one or two places I can track. Moreover, even though  my tool isn't based on offsets, making it more reliable than many  similar trainers, it is still possible that a game update will change  some of the game code and break it. Then there will be a lot of  complaints, and managing it on all the platforms will be quite tough.

Another thing is that I've been making a number of updates to the mod  based on feedback since release, and having to upload a new version to  every website each time would be too much to me. Even if you were set to  constantly update them there and help me with it, there would still be  delays and thus varying reports of any potential problems or  suggestions.

I hope this makes sense!

Nevertheless, the user ignored my message, went ahead and uploaded the tool to NexusMods. I did not like it but still appreciated their shout-out and links to the original page on PCGamingWiki and my Ko-Fi. Numerous downloads later, it also didn't feel quite right for me to request to take it down.

Still, I saw the Nexus users' reports of the mod causing crashes - simply because that version was always out of date and remains so to this day. Don't rely on it!
