OWW: 34 – A Tacurian Army

Comments

It would be so OP if she learned a charm skill or something similar that helped her bond faster with people.

For sure. I actually considered ending the chapter with her sending Mera off to tell every other farmer in town to start hiding whatever rations they can, but decided it would be more impactful to have her run off to find Joenal first. It's only surprising because its being viewed through the eyes of people who haven't seen war before. Atrinaska is intimately familiar with it. Had her realize very quickly after she hears about wagons but she won't be the only one. No deep spoilers for why exactly the trolls are still a threat. ;) It won't be a very long wait to find out exactly why, though. The army is after more than just food.

Thanks for the chapter! Hmm this could be a whole new kind of trouble... but then why isn't she making money printers or "magic ovens" for people? Will the village be attacked before the food can be taken and everyone villagers and army included need to fight for their lives? Or will it be simply that the village is in precarious situation after the harvest will be taken away, that still doesn't make up for the earlier danger that some war trolls will somehow get past this army after it "passes through" and attack then? Oh and by the way a kind of criticism/ hope for something to be mentioned at some pointat least is: That this knowlede of "wartime means Army confiscates your harvest" should NOT be something ONLY her mom knows though right? I get she's the highly educated woman advisor to a duke... but THIS? Like knowing that during times at war the armies won't ask all that friendly if they need supplies? thats pretty much REQUIERED knowledge for any farming village resident in that kind of time period... I really hope its not just her mom having the basic knowledge now. Pretty sure this interaction "War brings armies to villages to demand their harvest and villagers hid parts of theirs to not starve later" was a pretty common interaction happening just about everywhere unless an Army had a particularly horrofying and brutal reputation for like "killing and torturing anyone who is found out to have held back some food reserves".
