I’m only 2 years into whisky and among my first bottles were Talisker 10 and Lagavulin 16, generally did not like them, and concluded that peated whisky was not for me …. until I tasted Kilchoman, Port Charlotte, Octomore, Ledaig, Big Peat etc.

I've also been shocked how good the recent batch of Talisker 10 I tried during holiday tasted. A friend offered me a dram from his bottle, and I was worried what to tell him if it's bland, but I was pleasantly surprised - maybe also because I expected the worst, so no disappointment :D
Thanks for the vlog!

Funny you should mention Lagavulin vs Kilchoman distilleries. Visited both on the same day during Feis Île. Treated to a great journey around Kilchoman from production to casking in complete transparency and graciousness from the guide. While at Lagavulin, we only met with admin people ordering us around as they were understaffed apparently. They had to help in the Caol Ila Distillery day!

Thanks for the clarification Ralfy! Thanks for explaining the need for this switch. That means Kilchoman Sanaig and Kilkerran 16 would have scored 90+ on the previous scale! I'm waiting to see which sub £75 retail whisky scores 90+ on your new down marked scale. Any teasers? 😆
