Old Toad dispensing his daily wisdom 😭

Sinfinite

I wonder how gramps combining or upgrading arts effects the allegory element.

> In order to support the wingspan of such an enormous bird, like the kun, the peng requires a certain depth of air below it. Might be a good idea to mention prior to this that the fish is called the kun. I pieced it together from context, but my first reaction on hitting this line was "like the what now?" Also lmfao this toad really on that Link/RPG protagonist grindset. >walks into your house >breaks all your pots looking for valuables >refuses to apologize >leaves

> Tian nodded strongly. His teacher was clearly speaking the divine truth. He could feel Grandpa Jun radiating approval too. It's beautiful

I certainly wouldn't have put this together. It seems you have atleast 1% of the apprentice Toad's genuis.

Xiaoyaoyou, free and easy wandering, is the first chapter of the Zhuangzi, and begins immediately with the metaphor of the kun-peng. Very happy you chose to to seriously engage with daosim for this story!!!!!!!!!

The kunpeng is pretty perfect fit for Tian, moving away from the explosive rise of the azure dragon to freedom and transformation. Kun-peng are underexplored in Xianxia but have a fascinating role as creatures of perspective—they are in a lot of ways free of the judgments of others because they are so big and so far away. Where a dragon might be overbearing, dominant, explosive yang, a kunpeng is so in tune with its own nature that the world offers no resistance. Of course, the kunpeng is different from the moment of its creation—there is no story of a whale becoming a bird, but maybe there could be….

listen to me young tian, you must steal from wal mart. you must attain class consciousness, little daoist.

I'm really glad that we are getting some realms beyond realms in this story, it makes me hope we might be in for a serious length Xianxia. I think a lot of western written Xianxia tend to tone down that aspect of the genre, which can take away from the vast feel of it. It's also good because it makes me hope we'll be readong about Liren, Tian, and Burning Heaven for a long time to come 🙏

“No, I just hate the fact he dares to keep practicing medicine despite knowing what a loser and a failure he is. Especially since someone robbed his medicine warehouse while I was crushing him in the debate." *Someone* who definitely isn't your disciple and claiming otherwise without evidence would obviously be absurd slander.

This chapter is gonna cause a ton of deaths by asphyxiation when it hits rr, I can already tell.

“Very true, very true! There is hope for you yet, young Tian. Listen, and learn wisdom from me. A fool goes into a merchant’s store through the front door, a hero enters the merchant’s warehouse through the roof. It’s not robbery to steal from a thief, and that’s what merchants are- thieves. All of them. In the Imperfect Human Realm, anyway.” In awe absolutely my favorite quote so far

Mm I like this description. Reminds me of stuff like talking about the atmospheric boundary layer being thicker and closer in some areas affecting rain and also such rain being affected by a variety of gases in that area. Its a good framework for expanding past the illusion of unconnected singularity Tian was experiencing. Its still a bit of a illusion, as similar to noting such for rain the gases from other places winds, organic molecules, vegetation on the ground, etc all combine to facilitate the rain coming as it does. A desert is partially a desert as the lack of vegetation makes it actually easier to rain on a smaller scale more often, which has the water evaporate too quickly to help bring the things from the ground up into the sky for more rain. The thickness of the boundary relies on a foundation of coupled symmetries. Whole idea of the sea and sky in principle is a less simplified framework of finding the greater Daos symmetries from smaller trace facets of things that before were thought of as singular and combining them into a bigger system. Lot of use for weather analogies as a result, all currents of accumulation. Just like Jun said before its not all one thing, one is forming a matrix of symmetrical combination until it reaches the inflection points for continueing its own farther ranging feedback loops akin to a seachange and a sequence of storms interlaced. Its a nice refinement of what a foundation in setting is as a metaphor that is more accurate than what came before. It is also interesting to note in principle the best sects then at this imperfect realm would be the most cooperative, those who have the widest experiential base of teaching to note the connectivities in things such that those various trace aspects may be aggregated. Because the wider ranging couplings of symmetries they can make into foundations the better they are able to integrate the metaphorical wider sea of qi into the sky of shen in a stable loop. Gets into the aspect of a sect as a knowledge source being a thing technically independent of the other elements lauded as mandatory.
