Super late but writing in case anyone reads this in the future and has a similar thing happening. For the first question, the progress itself is worth celebrating as a monument to your success especially if it's meaningful to you personally and I don't like this idea of calling it bragging about a half done job. I also wouldn't say that person is reliant on external validation as Slime was saying. They're feeling positive about what they're doing and what it means to them and want to share that with the world just as much as they would want to share their product with the world. Bragging does have a negative connotation and in the end they are essentially doing that but more aptly they're celebrating and feeling proud about what they're doing, which is worth sharing regardless. In terms of posting on twitter vs telling friends in person I don't think it matters that much. I think Slime and Aiden might be looking at it from the perspective of people with pretty large followings online as opposed to the average person but maybe that's me being an insignificant 100 follower Andy. Anyway I think if you have a meaningfully close relationship with whatever friend then they should be happy for your accomplishments regardless, even if you're just bringing it up randomly or trying to weave it intricately into whatever conversation. They shouldn't be using some word count comparison to benchmark how they feel about you. As long as you're providing that positivity for your friend, they ideally should be reciprocating that back to you.

Your friend should be happy for you. When I see a friend/peer accomplish something I generally look at it as them paving the way, and I look forward to getting on their level in my own time.

oh hey im the first question - thanks for the advice lads :) I disagree with some of what slime said because of reasons related to my life/personality that obviously can't really be conveyed but I think his read was pretty good given what you guys had, and I'm glad my dream at the end made him laugh LMAO. I definitely was literally just bragging but I was hoping there was a magic path to, as the segment name suggests, 'how to brag without bragging' which in hindsight is not possible. aiden's advice was more what I expected and was looking for initially, but I'm honestly glad to have slime's hard fast wild sheeshman input because it made me think about my intentions a lot more. thanks again lads :)
