Some agents are AWFUL. I signed a contract with one once where I wasn’t allowed to accept work directly from clients, I had to redirect them through to my agent. I did this once and never heard back on that job so not only was I technically being their agent, it was also costing me work. Sometimes freelance is better but I think in some places like Thailand, what company you’re with and who represents who is very important compared to the west.
