Amalynth phase 2 mock-ups.

Hiya guys, TAD here, back again, once again. At the moment, we have fully decided to develop a phase two for Amalynth's fight. While we're still very busy making phase 1 functional, I figured I'd show you some rough mock-ups I created how phase 1 of the battle sequences into phase 2 of the battle.

So, how will the battle against Amalynth look? 


The battle is split into four categories: Phase 1-A, phase 1-B, Phase 2 and finally, the finishing sequence. 

In Phase 1-A, Amalynth is able to use her physical attacks on you. These range from a tail whip, a headbutt and an anti-aerial wing attack. She can run, stand still, and use some of these attacks directly out of her running animation. 

Phase 1-B commences when you have successfully gotten Amalynth below 75% health. In this phase, Amalynth also starts to use her special attacks alongside the aforementioned physical attacks. These are all stage-dependent and range from sharp spikes that thrust up from the ground, to exploding seeds shot from roses and even a sort of earthquake attack where Amalynth makes the ground open up at your feet. 

While all the animations are more or less done for these attacks, something still bothered me, and that was the fact Amalynth has wings, but doesn't use them to move around at all. So here we are, introducing phase 2 of the battle!

If you have knocked Amalynth below 33% of her health, phase 2 of the battle commences and we have a scene-shift. All the mock-ups you will see are nowhere the final product. Animations are not yet made for this phase, but this will at least give you guys an idea how it'll look:

Scene change will be initiated with a growl from Amalynth.

Arrows will appear, indicating you have to jump on one of the two platforms. 

Amalynth will initiate a take-off while some of the spikes underneath shoot up. 

Amalynth flies up wile the spikes impale themselves on the two platforms underneath. 

The scene changes into a pan-background with blurred lines to show speed while the platforms and Amalynth shoot up into the sky. 

Phase 2 of the battle commences. Amalynth will be flying, and you only have two platforms to move between while you're high up in the sky. 

In the next month, the animations for this sequence and also her attacks she performs in this phase will be created. I hope y'all are excited for that!

For now, that's all I have. Next time, I'll also show the finishing sequence of this battle. Like I've said previously, I want to go all out and make these battles challenging, enjoyable and engaging, since these battles are the meat of the game.
