Order of the Phoenix - Chapter 50

"Lieutenant Caine," he addressed Horatio with barely concealed impatience, "you requested a full SWAT deployment for a missing persons case? Two teenagers?"
Caine, his gaze fixed on the rain-lashed swamp, nodded curtly. "That's correct, Commander. But this is no ordinary missing persons case."
The commander raised an eyebrow. "Oh? And what makes it so special?"
"I can't divulge the details," Caine replied, his voice firm. "But trust me, this situation requires your full cooperation."
The commander's eyes narrowed. "Cooperation? You're asking me to risk my men's lives based on a hunch?"
Caine glanced at Harry and Daphne, who stood a short distance away, their expressions grim. "It's more than a hunch, Commander. These teenagers possess abilities that... well, let's just say they're not your average runaways."
The commander scoffed. "Abilities? What, are they circus performers? Escape artists?"
Caine remained silent, the weight of the situation pressing down on him. He couldn't reveal the truth about Harry and Daphne, not yet. But he knew that their lives, and potentially the lives of many others, depended on the SWAT team's cooperation.
"Commander," he said, his voice low and urgent, "trust me on this. These teenagers are crucial to this operation. Their safety is paramount."
The commander hesitated, then reluctantly nodded. "Fine, Lieutenant. But you better have a damn good explanation for this."
Caine offered a curt nod, then turned towards Harry and Daphne. "Come with me," he instructed, leading them towards a secluded area away from the prying eyes of the SWAT team.
Once they were out of earshot, Caine turned to the teenagers. "Alright," he said, his voice low and serious. "I need to know what we're up against. What can this Malfoy do? What kind of magic are we dealing with?"
Harry and Daphne exchanged a look, then turned to face Caine. Daphne spoke first, her voice calm and measured. "Lucius Malfoy is a powerful dark wizard. He can perform a wide range of spells, from curses and jinxes to transfiguration and Apparition."
Caine's brow furrowed. "Apparition? You mean teleportation?"
Harry nodded. "Essentially. It allows him to travel instantly from one location to another."
Duquesne, who had been listening intently, interjected. "So, we could be searching for him in one place, and he could be miles away in the next?"
"Precisely," Daphne confirmed.
Caine sighed, running a hand through his hair. "This is insane. Utterly insane."
Harry shrugged. "I know it's hard to believe, but it's the truth. And we need to figure out how to stop him before he hurts anyone else."
The four of them fell into a tense silence, the only sound the rustling of leaves and the distant rumble of thunder. Finally, Daphne spoke up.
"We need a plan," she said, her voice firm. "A strategy to take him down."
Harry nodded in agreement. "He'll likely come for me first. He seems to think I'm the key to whatever he's planning."
"So, we use that to our advantage," Daphne suggested. "You distract him, and I'll take him down."
Harry hesitated. "That's too risky. He's powerful, Daphne. You might get hurt."
Daphne shook her head, her eyes blazing with determination. "I can handle him. I've been training for this my whole life."
Caine and Duquesne listened intently, their minds reeling from the sheer audacity of the teenagers' plan. They were just kids, yet they spoke of battling a dark wizard with a confidence that belied their age.
"Alright," Caine finally said, a grudging admiration in his voice. "We'll play it your way. But be careful. This isn't a game."
Harry and Daphne nodded, their faces grim. They knew the risks, but they also knew they had no other choice. They had to stop Lucius Malfoy, no matter the cost.
