Order of the Phoenix - The Reading Resumes

The hallowed halls of Hogwarts were unusually quiet. The usual bustle of students rushing between classes, the chatter of gossip and laughter, the clanging of pots from the kitchens—all were muted. In the absence of the boisterous Gryffindor quartet, the castle felt as if it were holding its breath.

Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Neville, and Luna entered the Great Hall, their footsteps echoing on the stone floor. The long wooden tables, usually overflowing with students, now held a sparse scattering of professors and a handful of older students. The absence of familiar faces was a stark reminder of the events that had transpired during the reading of the Goblet of Fire.

"It's so... empty," Ginny murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Where do you think they are?" Neville asked, his eyes scanning the room as if expecting Harry and Daphne to suddenly appear.

"I don't know," Hermione replied, a worried frown creasing her brow. "But I hope they're safe."

Ron, his hands shoved deep in his pockets, shrugged. "They're probably halfway to Timbuktu by now, with Harry's luck."

Hermione shot him a disapproving look. "This is serious, Ron. They were kidnapped."

"I know, I know," Ron mumbled, his usual bravado faltering. "But Sirius and Remus are with them. They'll be alright."

As they made their way towards the Gryffindor table, Hermione couldn't help but notice the tension emanating from the Head Table. Dumbledore, his usually serene face etched with worry lines, was engaged in a hushed conversation with Professor McGonagall. Hermione's heart sank. If Dumbledore was this worried, it couldn't be good.

They took their seats, a sense of unease settling over them. The usual excitement that accompanied the readings was absent, replaced by a nervous anticipation.

Dumbledore, his gaze sweeping across the room, stood up. "Welcome back, everyone," he began, his voice a soothing balm in the tense atmosphere. "I know the recent events have been unsettling, but I assure you, we are doing everything we can to locate our missing students and staff."

He paused, his eyes briefly flickering towards the empty seats where Harry, Daphne, Sirius, and Remus usually sat. "In the meantime," he continued, his voice regaining its usual strength, "we must carry on. We must not let fear and uncertainty deter us from our purpose."

He walked towards the podium, a worn leather-bound book clutched in his hands. "Today, we will continue the reading of the fifth book in the Harry Potter series, 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.'"

An air of anticipation rippled through the hall.

Dumbledore opened the book, his fingers gently tracing the familiar words. "Chapter Ninteen," he announced, his voice clear and resonant. "The Lion and the Serpent."
