Balance

Even when I have a silly for-fun situation in my mind, I need to make a plausible reason for things happening in the silly for-fun situation. Why is Wren always around Ladi? What plausible reason could I make for that to happen? Those are the thoughts that go thru my mind when I think of characters lol. I need to be able to answer questions like that. To answer that question btw, to make a long story short:

Wren is stationed in Hell with the duty to stop demons who disrupt the balance of the cosmic energy that must be maintained. Demons like tussling yk? They like to fight each other often, and that action is the best way to disrupt the balance. Normally, it’s only really Greater Demons that can do that just by virtue of their station. They have more power, more energy, command bigger armies, blah blah blah. Wren’s job is to bonk some ppl on the head and stop them. Now, in comes Ladislav. He is an inventor, it’s his calling, and he has found interesting waaaays… to help compensate a lack of power in weak/mid-tier demons. These ways vary from species of demons of course cos different species have different weaknesses, but he is very good at what he does, and he managed to create tools that—if optimized right—COULD confuse Wren’s senses and make him think that a Greater Demon is fighting.

Which is actually pretty alarming if you think about it but frankly Wren isn’t bothered all that much about him. You may ask yourself, ok Ladi sounds real dangerous, shouldn’t Wren kill him? He could disrupt the balance real bad later on. Yes he could! But angels are held to certain rules (that do make them powerful but they need more rules) and one of them is that he cannot kill something that has not raised a sword against him in hostility, and Ladi never did. Cos he’s not a fighter. Wren also can’t really force anyone to do anything, his job is not to bend wills, so he said to Ladi that he’ll just keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn’t invent things that make his job hard! And if Ladi doesn’t want a freaky seraph on his ass all the time, then he needs to stop inventing things that could be risky. But he can’t guarantee that something he invents doesn’t BECOME risky, so as you can see, it’s a slippery slope and hence Wren’s monitoring.

All that to say, this is a lot of yapping for someone who made these two so I could draw them boinking in a theme💖
