Hey all.
I haven't been feeling well the past few days, so I didn't get as much done as I would like, but I'm still moving pretty well on the next update. Hoping that I start feeling a little better soon (it's sinus stuff, nothing major to worry about) so that I can work a little more.
Here's where were at right now though.
Write scenes - 14/23 (61%) - This is where I've been moving the slowest. I open up the window to start writing everything out and then I just get so tired I can barely keep my head up. Still, things are happening, I'm just moving a little slower than normal.
Write Conversations - 13/31 (42%)
Write Dates - 3/3 (100%) - All three new dates are done and I think they're working well.
Render Images - 90/346 (26%) - Rendering Images and animations is always the slowest part (due to my potato computer), so I'm trying to always have a queue of renders running at night. It feels like it's been moving even slower than usual lately though.
Render Animations 5/21 (24%)
Functions - 4/5 (80%) - I spent a day figuring out how to program the Scene Gallery, and I think I have it functioning properly now. That was probably the hardest programming thing I had to do this update, so it's nice to have that out of the way. The only function I have left to implement is the small tutorial at the beginning of the game. It's basically going to be a skippable scene where my avatar shows up and points out the things on the screen and explains how to use the menus and the time system.
Total Completion - 55%
Still shooting for January 8th.
At 55% total completion, it looks like I'm moving faster than I feel like I actually am. The rendering being slow is frustrating for me. As soon as I can get the money to do so, upgrading the computer is at the top of the list.
I've also still been thinking about removing the calendar system from the game. I know that there were some that wanted to see it stay in and even more that would like to see it removed. Here's my thoughts on that right now:
I think what I want to do is remove the calendar system from the game completely for now. Then, when the game is done and I can better see the whole picture, I'd add the calendar system back in as an optional playstyle. This would allow me a little more freedom in scene placement.
There is a big thing happening in the middle of the story (Chapter 13) that will introduce some significant changes to the game, and I want that event to happen around mid December in-game. Having the game completed before implementing that calendar system will allow me to better visualize what things I want to happen before that event and what things I want to happen afterward.
I hope you all that want to keep the calendar system will understand.
Okay, that's all I have to talk about right now. Love to hear your opinions on things. Love you all and hope you have a great weekend!
