Days of Future & Past

Hey everybody! 

Usually I do an progress report about whatever update I'm working on on Fridays, but since I just released Update 7 on Wednesday (and I hope you all are enjoying it!) and I haven't gotten into Update 8 too much yet, I want to just talk to you about some stuff I'm planning and show you a few images that you probably haven't seen unless you've been hanging out on my Discord. 

First, let's talk a bit about Update 8: 

I was a little torn about whether I wanted to move directly into another content update, or if I wanted to take some time to go back to re-do old images and clean things up. In the end, I decided to just do a little bit of both. I'm going to keep coming out with new content, but also take a day a week or so to go back and redo older scenes with better quality. 

I'm also not going to set a release date for Update 8 yet. I thought about taking a little week or two break from working on the game, as I've been working on it non-stop for almost a year now. But honestly, I don't know what I would do with myself if I didn't work. I sit down to watch a movie, or play a game or something, and I get bored. I really do love working on the game more than doing most other things. 

So I think what I'm going to do is just allow myself to slow down a little bit. Not actually take a complete break, but also not pressure myself to get things done quickly. That means that Update 8 might take a little longer than previous updates. It won't be like 6 months or anything - probably still close to 2. And of course I'll keep you all updated every week so you'll see my progress. 

With that said, I wanted to talk to you about the past - specifically the main character's past. Last week I made a series of old pictures to hang on the walls in the main character's house. People on my Discord saw them while I was working on them, but I wanted to share them here as well, because I'm pretty proud of them actually. 

Starting with the oldest image - this is the first time we've seen the MC's mom. Some of the happier days of the MC's early life.

And here's a first look at the MC's dad that we've seen as well. MC was learning about science at a very young age obviously, hanging out with his dad in his lab. 

A little bit older now. This is the last image of the MC's mom, before she passed away.

In another place, this is young Suzy, well before Lisa and the MC's father met. 

And a few years later, Lisa and Suzy on a little hike together. Still have not met the MC's dad at this point.

Meanwhile, the MC is going through a bit of a phase. His mother has died at this point, and there were no pictures taken for long time. 

Then, the MC's dad met Lisa. And the four of them began to live together. MC was not very happy about this situation.

But MC's Dad and Lisa were happy together. 

And the MC had occasional happy times with his Dad as well. This was the last picture of them together before the MC left for Brazil, after an afternoon of working on Dad's car.

After the MC went to Brazil, it was just Dad, Lucy, and Suzy. But they got along very well and it was mostly good. 

Suzy enjoyed her cheerleading, and graduated high school the year before the game begins. 

Then something seemed to change in Dad. He started spending more time in the basement, alone. He became much more moody and sad. This is the last image of him before he disappeared. 

And that's it. We're all caught up to the present now. I hope you enjoyed these little family photos. They were fun to make, and I'll likely do more in the future with the MC and possibly with other characters as well. Jamie needs some photos for her house, as do Mari and Adrian maybe.
