Come Home Principles

On Mondays I'm just going to post my thoughts about myself, or the game, or whatever, and today I want to talk about where the ideas for Come Home came from and what my principles are around the game.

When I first started writing the game, I wrote out a simple concept:

"An adult game that is a dating simulator involving time-management and minigames, where you play a character who develops many relationships while trying to solve the disappearance of his father."

Then I wrote out some principles: the things that I wanted the game to do and what I want to stand by throughout the development process. So here they are:

1. Tell a good story - This is number one for a reason. I'm much more focused on making good characters and putting together an interesting story than anything else in the game. I want my characters to feel like real people, who all have their own goals and problems and lives. I want the players to want to get to know the characters, not just fuck them. Although that is an option too.

2. Lots of sex - I mean, this has to happen in an erotic game. It's expected and it's something that I want anyways. Nearly every character in the game can be romanced and there should be hot sex involving all of them.

3. Consensual - This is something that I feel very strongly about. I'm not going to ever write a scene that can be interpreted as non-consensual. This means no mind-control, no blackmail, and most of all no rape. If this is something that you're into, you're not going to find it in my game.

4. Multiple Choices - There are a lot of women in the game and some may not appeal to the player. Women of different races, sizes, and ages. Later in the story there will be possible romances with a transgender woman and even a man as well. There are also sex activities that the player may not be into as well. This is okay, because none of the romances are required to progress in the story. You can choose which ones you're interested in and pursue those, ignoring the ones that you don't like. Because the game is based on a calendar year, you likely wont be able to pursue every relationship anyways. Just like real-life, there's just not enough time in the day to have a meaningful relationship with a dozen different partners.

5. Meaningful relationships - Speaking of which, I wanted my game to have real love in it. That doesn't mean that there won't be some options of just pure fucking, but some characters in the game will be looking for a meaningful relationship and the player should be able to develop one with them.

6. Harem - On the flip-side, this IS a harem game. You can have relationships with many different women at the same time, and I want you to be able to do that without fear that you're blocking yourself off from one story path by pursuing another. This will come much later in the game, but I have plans for there to be multiple endings to each character's story, depending on what kind of relationship you want to have with them (whether you want to settle down with only them, keep your options open, or even have multiple partners).

7. Listen to player feedback - Since this is a game that's going to be in development for a while and be released in chapters, I'm going to listen to what the player wants when it comes to the characters and story. I have an outline for every character in the game, along with an outline for the main plot, but some things will likely change and new stuff will be added into the story based on what players tell me that they want. This doesn't mean that I'm going to give everybody exactly what they want. That's just not possible. But I will modify things based on what people want as long as it still fits the story that I want to tell.

That's all I have for now. Thank you for reading - I hope that this gives you a little more idea of what to expect going forward with the game and I hope that you are all on board. Let me know if you have any questions and as always - thank you for your support!
