I'm not sure what to talk about this week. I try to talk about myself on Mondays a bit, but I'm having a hard time choosing subjects to talk about. If there's anything you'd like me to talk about, leave me a comment and let me know, because I'm not sure what would be interesting for everybody.
This week, I just figured I'd talk a bit about my schedule. I'm a full-time writer, so I work from home every day and make my own schedule. I haven't done a 9-5 full-time job in about 7 years when I was the manager of a pawn shop.
Now, I wake up at 8 A.M. every morning and pretty much immediately walk outside and check my garden. I love my garden - it's not very big, but it's mine. I grow the vegetables and herbs that I cook - which is another thing that I love doing. I'd really like to one day expand my garden enough that I could grow nearly everything I eat, but haven't gotten there yet.
At 9 A.M I get on the computer - check e-mail and the social medias, make a post on Patreon if it's a weekday, and make a plan for the day about what I'm going to be working on.
Then I get to work. Until 12 I work on either writing, or Come Home. I put on my headphones, listen to some synthwave usually, and focus on writing, creating images, programming, photoshopping, or whatever else needs to be done that day.
I take about an hour off for lunch - usually leftovers from whatever I cooked the night before while watching an episode of whatever show I'm interested in at the time (lately it's been true-crime stuff like Unsolved Mysteries, Disappeared, and Dateline).
Then back to work again - usually until 4 or so, but sometimes later depending on if I'm in the middle of something. Around 4 I set up my renders for the night. I only have one computer that does everything, and I cannot work on the computer while it's rendering images as it uses every bit of the computer's processing and video power. So I queue everything up after I'm done working for the day, and then let it run until morning.
I like to take a break between 4 and 5 and just chill with an afternoon cup of coffee. Usually I'll play a video game here. Lately I've been playing through the Ratchet and Clank series again, trying to get the platinum trophy on everything, after seeing the trailer for the new game coming out on the PS5. Sometimes I'll just relax and listen to a podcast or something. I'm a big fan of True Crime Garage.
At 5 or so, I start cooking. I cook nearly every night. I'm kind of a snob about cooking as well - almost nothing frozen, from a can, or from a box. I love fresh ingredients. Tonight I'm doing a Chicken Parmesan Casserole - it's Chef John's recipe from Food Wishes if you're interested in checking that out.
Usually I'm done cooking around 6-6:30. I sit down and eat with my partner, then we usually watch something - either a movie (we are both big movie buffs), or whatever show we're interested at the time (we've been watching old episodes of Miami Vice, which I had never seen before but am absolutely loving).
Around 9, when we're done watching whatever we watched, I tend to take an hour to just write in a spiral notebook whatever thoughts I have for stories or projects I'd like to do.
Then we head to bed around 10 or so. I usually watch a little Youtube on my iPad in bed, or read a book until I fall asleep.
This is a pretty consistent schedule for weekdays. Weekends get a little more hectic, with errands that must be ran, events that we go to (like Dungeons and Dragons that we play with our friends on some Sundays), and outdoor projects that we have to work on (I've been cleaning out my garage, which is an absolute disaster, trying to make some room for a workout area and to work on an old non-running car that I have out there.) I try to sneak in a few hours of work on weekends as well though.
And that's it. My life isn't super-exciting. I like consistency, schedules, and routines. My partner makes fun of me because I plan out my whole week on Excel and keep very close track of the amount of time I spend on things.
Hope this was at least somewhat interesting for you. I doubt it! Thanks as always for your support. Now, back to work for me.
