Hm. Supposed to talk about personal life in these posts. I've been pretty focused on the game this last week, so I haven't done much outside of it. My life outside the game hasn't been that great this last week. I guess I'll talk about that, but it's going to be whiny, so proceed at your own risk.
My roommate, who I'm very close to - my partner and I have lived with her for 8 years and she's sort of like an older sister - she had knee surgery last week. This has been coming for a while. I love her. She's super sweet and can be very helpful at times, but she's honestly one of the laziest people I've ever met. She goes to work, then comes home and sits in her chair and watches television. That's all she does. Which is part of why her knees are so bad to begin with - she doesn't get any exercise.
Anyway, now because of the knee surgery, she's not able to do anything. She can't get up out of her chair herself. She can't get into her bed herself. So I'm having to go in there every hour or so and help her get up, or get her something to drink, or do anything else she may need, on top of all the stuff I already do for her - cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping, etc.
So, I'm kinda exhausted from all of it. It's not really what I signed up for. I love her, but it's a burden that I don't really want. But I feel obligated, because I live in her house and I care about her, and I don't know who else would do these things for her.
I guess that's pretty much it. I'm REALLY happy about the game right now, but outside of that, I'm not very happy at all. I'm hoping my roommate recovers soon and things can go back to relatively normal. Also hoping I can start making enough money making this game that my partner and I can move out and get our own place at some point.
Love ya. Hope you have a great week!

I wish you all the best, and would agree with Vince: Do not hesitate to look for outside help if things get overwhelming (or better, before that). And do not feel responsible for people you are not responsible for, even if you love them. Also, as much as I admire your game and your skills, it is, sadly, most likely not a good idea to rely on indie game development patreon income for essential things such as rent... (Hope these unprompted personal comments are not too intrusive..)

2021-08-03 19:01:04 +0000 UTCHey, I knew from here, that this situation doesn´t get better. My partner has it for two long years .. The only way is help from outside, trust me. Head up ;-)
