RJ Ramblings

Hey everybody. A bit late on the Ramblings today, sorry about that. I just did not feel like writing about stuff this morning when I woke up. 

Still having allergy issues. Was good for like two days, then they came back again. Not as bad, but still annoyingly present. Just making me feel tired and like not doing anything. But I am doing things! Just a little slower than I would like. 

I don't remember what I wrote here last week. Did I talk to y'all about comics? I think I did. That's still pretty much all I've been doing in my free time. Reading comics. Playing some games on my phone. That's about it. Haven't had a TON of free time. Trying to work as much as I can, until I crash. Been sleeping a lot. 

Everything is mostly okay though. Nothing to concern about, so don't worry with the "Feel betters" and the "Take it easy". I know. I am, I promise. I'm not working myself too hard. Just working as much as I feel like I'm able to. Still happy, enjoying making the game, enjoying spending time with my partner, and enjoying reading my comics. That's about it, ha!

Not much to ramble about. Wanna talk about true crime? That's another thing I've been doing a lot of in my spare time. During lunch, partner and I have been watching Dateline quite a bit. And I listen to podcasts some while I'm doing renders. 

One case that I was very familiar with and dug deep into a couple years ago was the cold case murder of Carla Walker in Fort Worth back in 1974. The case had basically died for years, with no real leads, and last I heard they were doing DNA tests and closing in on somebody. Then I didn't hear anything else and I hadn't really checked in again for a long time. Then yesterday, we're watching Dateline and the case comes up! I recognized it immediately from Carla's picture in the thumbnail. I was like, let's watch this one and see if there's anything about the case I hadn't heard of. 

Apparently, I completely missed that they SOLVED the case two years ago! Arrested the guy responsible based on DNA found on Carla's dress. He confessed and is in prison for life. I had no idea and was so happy to hear that. I love genealogical DNA. I love that they're able to use it to track down killers who got away with murder for years. It's extremely fascinating. I hope that they continue to close these old cases and put these old men who think they got away with shit behind bars.  Every time it happens, I cheer.
