$1 Tier no longer available for new patrons

Starting immediately, and for a few different reasons, I'm removing the $1 tier subscription from Patreon and Subscribestar.
What does that mean for you?
If you are a current $1 tier subscriber, you will still be one and you will still see the same benefits, with no change except that you will now get access to the $3 tier on the Monthly Bonus Image Rolldown posts, as a thank you for being an early subscriber.
However, if you cancel your subscription, or the subscription lapses somehow, you won't be able to sign back up at the $1 level. It's no longer listed as an available tier.
Why change?
There's a few reasons why I'm making the change, including fees and piracy, but I've always been okay with that as just a cost of doing business.
The biggest reason I'm making this change is because of Steam and a recent conversation that I had with Steam helpdesk. They were not very happy that I was selling content on there in $3 DLC packages that Patrons were getting for $1, so I'm trying to comply a little better with Steam's guidelines.
That's pretty much it! Nothing major and current subscribers should see no effect.

This is the way that I do it. And pretty much only because Steam doesn't do (for lack of a better word), subscription pricing universally. Oddly enough, for the ones they do, it's more expensive to go through Steam. iRacing is roughly $45 per 3 months more expensive through Steam than going direct. Doesn't make much sense. So it is probably still cheaper to do it the way we do and still back up R.J. somewhat properly. (BTW when ya gonna do an R.J. set for your R.J. fans)? 😊

2022-11-01 15:47:02 +0000 UTCI've considered this, but adding another $1 tier while keeping the previous for those who are already at that tier creates a lot of confusion and more work on my part. I really do like having the $1 tier for people who just want to follow the progress of the game, but I don't want to have two separate $1 tiers. So the option is either - all the current $1 tier patrons lose their benefits (which is not fair, especially to those who signed up for annual subscriptions), or I don't allow new $1 tier patrons, which is what I chose to do. This is something I may add back in later though, after considering it further.

2022-11-01 15:46:50 +0000 UTCPerhaps for new people offer a "Bruh/Feet Plz" $1 Tier, where they get to read update/ramble posts and see certain renders but that's it, with the knowledge that moving to $3 gets them DLC, etc. (I don't know how many people would want that, but I know sometimes money is tight and I have to dial back support w/o wanting to cancel, so a $1 Tier is always a welcome fallback position for me. It's where I am now, in fact, though it used to be higher.) #JustSpitballin
