V.VIII Pater Key Pose Sketch

Me: Pater is sort of an inconsequential character who's not very popular, so no need to go too hard.
Also me 3 hours later:

As of now, we are planning to have Pater be the first demoable character. I think he'll be a good character to get feedback on the game systems without giving too much away in the story. I have a special fondness for Pater because I too, am insane, and I have done my best to do him justice.  If nothing else I'm sure he'll have a place in the hearts of trapezius enthusiasts. He has the finest neck Arquebus has to offer!

This sketch will be the foundation for a series of animation tests to see whether I decide to commit to hand drawn cel-shaded animation, or creating a rig and animating him in Spine. We'll see!

Comments

Standard hand drawn animation is 24 fps, and it’s usually ‘on the two’s’, so 12 drawings a second, but it’s more complicated than that, and most animations are less than a second. Both techniques would involve doing separate layers of light set to screen/additive in Unity.

If you cellshade at 16frames p/sec i guess that lightens the load compared to 20, but you'll still be faced with lighting the cellshading (easier than tackling lighting as you cellshade). How does Spine factor lighting in?
