Stop Asking Me to Clone Dark Souls – Reman Rampart Progress Report
Added 2025-06-16 05:07:10 +0000 UTCHey everyone!
Since I put “open for work” on Nexus, a handful of Fiverr commissions landed in my inbox.
Cool, right? …Well, kinda. Here’s the truth:
1. Commissions ≠ Fun (for me)
Voice actors for Goku re-record “Kamehameha!” for every new Dragon Ball game—even though we’ve all heard the exact same scream since the ’80s. Why? Legal red tape.
My Fiverr gigs feel the same.
One client wants a “Dark Souls-ish” sword swing but legally different. So I’m basically hand-crafting the move from reference videos—twisting the wrist 5 degrees and calling it “original.” It’s animation laundering, and it bores me to tears.
Lesson learned: I’m not built to be a factory animator. I just want to make Oblivion Remastered feel better for us.
2. Where Reman Rampart Stands
I’m typing this from a travel laptop, so no screenshots today, but here’s what’s done:
Idle, Sheathe, Draw ✅
Longsword attacks 🔧 Rebuilding from scratch because the first pass was meh.
Longsword moves show up all the time in-game, so I’m polishing them until they shine—even if that slows things down.
3. About Patron Requests
I recently tweaked Morihaus Might so its crown-stance light attack starts with a thrust instead of a slash (patron request). I’m not against requests—if they truly make the game more fun. Just know that each side quest like this pushes Reman Rampart back a little.
4. The Fiverr Elephant
I already accepted a few Fiverr jobs, so I’ll finish them. That means Reman Rampart will crawl, not sprint, for a short while. Thanks for sticking with me while I juggle blades and bills.
TL;DR
Fiverr gigs taught me I hate clone-work.
Reman Rampart’s core animations are rolling; longsword swings are in deep polish.
Patron requests are welcome when they improve gameplay, but they do slow the main mod.
May Kynareth cut the queue before the burnout cuts me.
