Important Update — Why My Oblivion Remastered Mods Are Moving to Patreon
Added 2025-07-10 06:11:13 +0000 UTCHi everyone, Kei here.
I need to talk about a big change.
What’s Changing
I’m stopping all free downloads on Nexus Mods.
From now on every release will live on Patreon.
Even the $1 tier will unlock every file.
Why I Made This Decision
Most of you enjoy the mods quietly, and I’m grateful.
But a very vocal minority has turned each release into a draining loop of:
Endless demands — “Add this, fix that, do it tomorrow—oh, and make it free.”
Repeating the same explanations for why certain “simple” ideas won’t work.
Back-seat comments: if I answer bluntly, it’s “Kei is rude.” If I stay silent, it’s “Kei is ignoring us.”
You’ve probably met this type at work: the colleague who asks for the impossible, then wants a step-by-step lecture on why it’s impossible. It eats time and energy I’d rather spend animating.
I finally realized the root cause is price = zero.
Chris Anderson’s book Free makes the point perfectly: when Google handed out free snacks at a conference, people grabbed heaps they didn’t even finish. Charge just 10 cents and suddenly everyone thinks before reaching. The tiny price isn’t about profit—it forces a moment of respect.
That’s what I need here.
It’s Not About the Money
The fee is symbolic. One dollar already opens the door.
What I value is your decision to support the work—and the quiet it brings.
Fewer noise posts mean faster updates and better animations for everyone.
What You Can Expect
Moving forward I’ll keep doing what I love: creating high-quality animation overhauls.
If you choose to join—even at the minimum tier—you’ll get:
Immediate access to every current and future file.
Progress reports and polls on what to tackle next.
A calmer space where feedback stays constructive.
I know paywalls aren’t the norm in modding, and I wrestled with this choice.
But this change lets me protect my time, sanity, and passion—so the mods themselves can keep improving.
Thanks for understanding, and special thanks to every silent supporter who just enjoys the work.
If you feel it’s worth a dollar, I’ll see you on Patreon. If not, no hard feelings—thanks for playing up to now.
Stay creative,
Kei
