THE PODCAST Ep. 35 / PROJECTS + LITE FM
Added 2018-09-24 13:56:50 +0000 UTCJust me riding solo. Didn’t expect to do a 90 minute show. I talk about upcoming projects and spend the last 20 minutes riffing on 1980s Lite FM radio. Enjoy!

2018-09-25 21:29:24 +0000 UTCYou and Rick need to get shit-faced and sing your guilty pleasure songs together, that's a podcast I'd love to hear!

2018-09-25 21:17:31 +0000 UTCOMG, was the Lite FM 97.1 WASH FM? Dear GOD, some of the terrestrial radio in the Baltimore/Washington area were soo awful.

2018-09-25 09:58:45 +0000 UTCHi Dan. People forget that artistic endeavours can be emotionally exhausting. I am so happy I get to see your documentary considering the emotional time and effort you put into it. I am here for the ride with you in whatever you do. You have never disappointed. Thanks for giving the working girls/boys and those doing it rough in a first world country a voice. Humanity is a great topic. I love a good horror movie! I bet the cinematography will be amazing with you behind the camera. Good luck with it.

2018-09-25 09:37:18 +0000 UTCIt gave me goosebumps!

2018-09-25 06:27:35 +0000 UTCTrapped and Afraid was a great thing because it felt real, it didn't rely on supernatural stuff, it was something that could happen to anyone. I think that's one thing horror as a whole is missing today, it still heavily relies on supernatural or zombies, or something just outside the realm of possibility. I want horror that is relatable, something real. I think you hit the nail on the head with that one.
Anthony DiGiacomo
2018-09-25 04:08:07 +0000 UTCSounds like you have some exciting plans, awesome! Regarding those who say you shouldn’t voice your opinions, fuck them. Your ability to keep it real is a big reason as to why I’m a fan.

2018-09-25 01:59:51 +0000 UTCI can't wait to see where you take your career next. Its rare to find someone who you happen to enjoy whatever they do but so great when you do! 💛 I have no doubt it'll be an adventure! 💛

2018-09-25 00:04:27 +0000 UTCI don't understand nowadays all the love of the 90's. Whenever I think of that time, as odd as it sounds, it just makes me think of all of that shitty fake brass trim that everyone had in their houses at that point. (I grew up in a house that was built in 1995) Either way Dan, another great episode.
Kate
2018-09-25 00:03:40 +0000 UTCDan. I needed to hear you say that about defending certain people by default. Someone with common sense and a realistic approach amongst the cesspit of social media helps. So often people forget what its doing to others with experience to see the mental gymnastics some people do in order to defend. Its not politics, its real life. Thank you. You have no idea 💛
Elaine
2018-09-25 00:01:40 +0000 UTCI am thrilled about the Margie and Scott documentary coming out; I've been on the lookout because it's sociologically interesting and unique. The work you're doing speaks volumes to situational sociology and I think that your work will be what we talk about in sociology courses ( dead malls as totems of social groups, the fall of the bourgeoisie and labor etc.). Your work exploring sex workers, trans folks, people of color, and the 'lowest' bar of people (that society defines) inspires a sociological awakening. Just wanted to let you know that you're teaching others about sociology in indirect ways and it's super important. I will support whatever you need within a $20 dollar contribution (college limit). Do you have any footage or experience filming drag queens and exploring the culture of clubbing back in the 90s? I remember you talking about it in another podcast with Sextia and I learned a lot from your discussion.

2018-09-24 23:39:23 +0000 UTCYeah, I don't want to go back to a "better time," because it only exists in our mind. I forget where I originally saw this quote, but it's one of my favorites: "Nostalgia is not what it used to be."

2018-09-24 23:33:08 +0000 UTCLove me some 80s music.

2018-09-24 22:33:28 +0000 UTCAll of those songs sound like the ones on those old time life cd collections that would advertise at 3am

2018-09-24 20:08:01 +0000 UTCLite FM takes me back to sitting in the rear facing (super safe, I am sure) back seat of my best friends parent's station wagon, slathering on Bonnie Bell lip gloss and drenching myself in Love's Baby Soft on our way to flirt with boys at the mall😊

2018-09-24 19:57:20 +0000 UTCI’ll agree on apples pricing getting worse on their phones, I have a 6 whenever I need a new one, probably going back to android, there’s so much cheaper but just as good phones if you do research...

2018-09-24 17:52:53 +0000 UTCOf all the sounds on your goddamn sound board, I hate the puking one the most, and you singing between it is so fucking twisted bahaha can’t wait to see you future films and docs!
Angela Mercurio
2018-09-24 17:52:38 +0000 UTCYour singing is truly terrible sir. Thanks for doing the film stuff instead.

2018-09-24 17:52:02 +0000 UTCWhen I was a kid I used to call into a Lite FM radio station on a weekly basis and they’d get a kid perspective on various things so even in the late 90s this was my soundtrack.
Andy Sorensen
2018-09-24 16:43:07 +0000 UTCLOL the end of this podcast was FKN amazing. Especially your rendition of Hungry Eyes. I can never unhear that now LOL

2018-09-24 16:26:57 +0000 UTCI drive 148 to 150 miles a day. I'm a medical courier. the job isn't particularly stressful as driving jobs go, but as much as I love it, it can get monotonous. I hate local radio, so I tend to listen to podcasts. Between you and the Mike O'Meara Show, I have great stuff to keep me interested and laughing on the road. Thanks!
Rick Drais
2018-09-24 15:50:46 +0000 UTCRubbermaid bro! Have one or a couple for all the miscellaneous /junk/odd end stuff. Just throw it in there from time to time. Then when you have time you can go through it and organize. It's an investment well worth it! I do that shit all the time with songs. I use to drive one of my friends nuts doing that. I was just singing this Billy Ocean one to myself recently, "Get out of my car, get out of my life." Ha ha ha
