The HRDC DCG Concept

I've been working hard, by working hard I mean using my brain a lot, to decide which path to go in regards to a long-term project. Here are a bunch of mock concepts of what could be a Hybrid Roguelike Dungeon Crawler Digital Card Game.

These mock ups don't really offer too much insight on the project, but I will do my best to break down the idea.

The game itself is a Player vs. Enemy or PvE digital card game. At the start of the game you are given a random draw of Adventurers which are character cards that have unique stats and traits that influence your Action cards.

Action cards are your primary form of interacting with monsters on the field. They can vary from simple attack types such as Stab or Slam to powerful abilities like Blizzard which freezes all monsters on the field. Some Action cards can actually reserve a slot in your hand for a continuous passive like health regeneration.

Experience points or EXP is generated by slaying monsters which can be used to Level Up your chosen Adventurer which unlocks new traits. Other ways to spend EXP could be around the lines of upgrading Action cards on the fly or deck boosters to expand your gameplay.

We refer to it as a Roguelike in the sense that in the current conceptual stages of development we are probably going to rule out or limit deck customization for a more on-the-fly experience, but it ultimately depends on how the whole game evolves as core is laid out. When your Adventurer falls in battle you will lose all your EXP and upgrades and have to start anew from a random draw of Adventurers.

... But, Mewdles! Where will the smut come into play?
Do not worry! We want to make sure the core mechanics of the game perform well as most of the actual smut will be through artwork, special effects, unique action cards, monsters, and status effects. Who knows, perhaps there will be secret combinations you get to unlock special variations on Adventurer cards!

Currently, I am the only artists that will be making the cards while Aurelius will be doing the majority of the actual engine behind the game. Though, if this does really become a reality, I hope to create some templates and expand the artwork to other artists who wish to contribute or perhaps offer reward tiers to get patron characters into the game right away!

So, keep an eye out as we will do our best to get this idea rolling!
