2022-12-06 21:35:19 +0000 UTCI recommended Triangle of Sadness in an IM to MR today, because of a Matthew Weiss tie-in. I had been curious what an educated Marxist would think of it. I had a sense the filmmaker was making a broader statement about Marxists laboring in the capitalist sphere. Observe that Harrelson’s character is very drunk when he’s reading anti-capitalist quotations to counter a drunken Russian oligarch’s Reagan and Thatcher quotations. The movie seems very interested in how peoples’ politics adapt to their interpersonal relationships. Also, the oligarch keeps saying, “I sell shit.” And, later, his wife dies in it.
