140 - STAND WITH GAZA + NJ Nurses Strike & the Scandal of Unsafe Staffing

Matt & David talk about the inhumanity of the siege on Gaza, the despicable political response, and how this is not the time to shy away.   Then we are joined by nurses from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey who have been on strike demanding better staffing, higher pay, and basic worker's rights.

Hey KC we will certainly be putting it up over the next few days!

David Griscom

do yall plan to clip the nurse interview? I have two friends in North Jersey who were nurses in two (very-large, highly ranked) hospitals who shared the same experiences in their workplace. Unfortunately there is zero union presence in these hospitals, and they've had to recently leave their positions because of COVID/general burnout, unsafe staffing+working conditions, and overall abysmal treatment by management. Anyway, I was hoping to send them this interview and hopefully have them share it with their past colleagues still at the hospitals. Any healthcare organizers in NJ, please reach out to these nurses at these hospitals! They are fed up and eager to have collective power against management, to be able to safely and effectively do their jobs and serve their communities, but despite my efforts to advocate unionizing to my friends, my impression is that the nursing workforce there is simply too overburdened to find the mental or spare time needed to research the unionization process.
