(The guests win 60% when he is the referee while only 45% when he is not). Keeping this weird attention about this couple can help the internet traffic for the NFL and get the attention of people, specifically more young ladies for American Football, and they make more money. This is a plausible hypothesis and you can put it against the hypothesis that it was just bad luck that the referee was awful or just analyze his calls and say actually he was fair. That way the conspiracy theories won’t be potent.

Naomi Klein says: The right wing gets the feelings right but the facts wrong. They know that the mainstream (and the left one on this matter) pundits will not acknowledge the awfulness of the referee's performance, nor disprove the feeling about his performance. So, they adopt these theories to gain support. So, as mush as I am a far-leftist, as a Baltimorean, I tempted to go with the right wing theories.
