Wokeness/antiwokeness is a intra class struggle within the PMC. It appears as moralism, but it's about networks of people within the PMC contending for power within capitalism. DEI was the end game for two factions within the PMC. Not because it would diversify the workplace very much, but because the world was shaping up better for woke PMCers as capital was looking to meet actually diverse consumer and labor markets, and required reform. That being a "cis gendered white ally" would probably get you a promotion over the knuckledragging bro child of a regional tire dealership is the material basis for the "morally right" postion here. The more baroque wokeness got, for promotion, for assignments, the better it was for a certain faction within the PMC. Since there's not many Marxists running around, this all appears as a moral struggle, and is imposed as such. But it's a material struggle. And this actually is a life and death struggle for differing networks (families, business networks, political parties and their appendages) for the commanding heights within capitalism, and it's spoils. The culture war is a intra class war between factions that can only appear as morality that needs to draw in the rest of society in its struggle. But as far as I know, there's no DEI coordinator jobs that concern themselves l with meatpackers or home health care workers. Socialists must draw a class line and a path out of the culture war. I would guess it would be a breath of fresh air. Universalism and a commitment to human liberty should be our watchwords.
