Meanwhile.

Shush moratorium.

Despite the proclaimed moratorium, the situation has improved somewhat and... deteriorated significantly at the same time. Yeah... So perhaps I should report it.

On the one hand... The blackouts have become more sane, sometimes there's even electricity all day long. So that aspect is no longer affecting my work as much as it did last month.

On the other hand... I'm from Kharkiv. Those who follow the news on this war have already figured it all out. And those who don't... You know what? Keep it up. I try not to follow the news noise either. Too bad in my circumstances, it's not always possible.

Now for something more pleasant.

Previous vote.

The majority voted in favor of clarifying the Ability descriptions. So be it. It's not a high priority at all, but it has now been added to the "to-do" list. I'm now leaning more towards a small, organic expansion of the descriptions in aspects that weren't very clear in the original variants.

By the way, if you have suggestions/corrections, etc. - now is still the time to offer them. There is no urgency, and in any case, they should be ready only by the time the update itself is released. Because after that it will be too late, indeed ;)

Readiness of update 1.7

I'd say somewhere around 50%. Still no exact release date, I think it's understandable why. I want to finish the update by the end of this month. Too bad it doesn't always work out the way I want it to.

Anyway, in about 2-3 days before, when the update is 100% ready, I'll post here. In those 2-3 days, I plan to do "deep testing" of the entire update (i.e. 1.6 to 1.7), so to speak, to see everything holistically as a single episode.

So, stay subscribed, keep your email notifications up, and you'll be in the know when the update hits your hands.

A little bit about the content of 1.7 (no spoilers).

Some of the dialogues turned out to have quite a complex... structure? It's probably better to visualize here.

This is how a relatively "simple" sequence looks in the game engine:

As you can see everything is neat, arrows consistently lead from one moment to another.

And this is what a piece of one of the dialogs in 1.7 looks like:

What a mess, huh? Given that the game doesn't run you through the same lines and doesn't put you in loops, this is the kind of dialog structure that assumes you'll only go through certain "squares" once. And the sequence can be any order you want (I don't know what options you'll choose exactly, after all). So, yes, balancing dialogs like this can be a bit difficult. Testing too. But that's okay. There have been these things before and there will be more. And they have a very high replayability.

To some extent, now I'm "shoving" into 1.7 what was supposed to be in 1.8 to actually unload the planned content burden for 1.8. There's a lot planned for it, so moving some of the events/dialogs to 1.7 seems reasonable to me. But this, alas, slows down work on 1.7 itself. So please be patient. I'm working as fast as I can.

Well... that's it.

I'm unlikely to post anything else here until the aforementioned moment of 100% update readiness and 2-3 days before the update itself is released. But in any case, regardless of the circumstances, I will keep working - don't worry. And thank you all, for your words of support and high (sometimes, perhaps, even too high) evaluations of my work. It motivates me a lot. Thank you!

Yes, you're right HarleyQueen! And yes, it's true Harley!! I also think that peoples would be better off making love, rather than these horrible and destructive wars... |---> PEACE&LOVE THE FRIENDS!!! [^😌+❤️^]

Thank you. Humans are a pretty stupid species. I mean, you still haven't invented artificial spheres to live in and you're crawling around on this stupid stone orb... Um, I mean "we" humans. Yes, yes. Damn universal translator... About the screenshots, there were actually already more complicated places in the game. So there is nothing new for me. Such "squares" in the game engine (and each of them is a certain moment in the story when you make a choice) are already almost 3k. I've posted them... Well, I have to write about something to keep this page living, figurative speaking, so I decided to write about that.

Defiant Explorer

In theory, it wouldn't be an extra work time. Well, the idea is that lore texts will replace these lengthy news about nothing, which I often find difficult to write, because... Because in a story-driven game spoilers are pure poison, toxic to the fun of playthrough. Even vague hints that I'm forced to give on upcoming content in news posts (just to have something to write about) are deeply undesirable. The area of hunching and thinking should be entirely on the players' side. The news itself will be very brief. Like, it's ready for about ~ that much and will be released around ~ that time. Nothing unnecessary.

Defiant Explorer

I know u hate talking about this so I will just tell you that I hope that it will all be over soon. Why can't we humans live together in peace.... Your two screenshots look very complicated. You're very talented and I can't wait for 1.7. 🥰

Yes you're right D.E., it's correct that some of us asked you various questions on many subjects. In fact, I already read everything about all that on F95, and I must say that I found it all VERY interesting!+! And also in the game itself I really liked the moments where Selene read the book of Sargon, which talked about historical events of the past (with the ancient Caladan empire and then the creation of the different kingdoms). All this gives a real depth to your game and so yes I believe that if you shared with us here (or even on F95?) these < lore inserts > and other useful informations from your world, well; it is likely that your players will be interested in it. So, if you want to make some sort of "external codex", it's certain that I'm not going to be the one to tell you that it's a bad idea! And finally: no, I don't think you're getting too carried!!! On the contrary, it could be a very good idea. But I just hope for you that doing this won't require too much extra work time.

Lonely Wolf

One, please stop worrying about the nature of the question. I wasn't thinking anything like that about you. It's just a question. Two, I've long had the idea to start posting lore notes here that aren't raised in the game itself. I mean, people have been asking me about all sorts of things... What does the Sky Ring consist of? The political structure of Yardanar? The prevalence of iron in this Bronze Age, and even about meteoric iron. And a lot of other things. So I'm thinking, what if instead of all these long news stories about nothing, the whole point of which is "I'm working, guys" and "Yeah, I'm still working, guys." But what if instead I were to create lore inserts here, talking about this fictional world, things Selene might not even know about in the game itself? Well, she's certainly not going to end up in the Endless Forests (which is a pretty remarkable place). Or countries. Of the people who inhabit them. About unusual animals. Gods... Temples... Natural sites... And so on. That would be useful to me too, so to speak, to structure the material, those unseen things that the setting hinges on, but which either aren't covered in the game or never will be. Yes, I have notes (a bunch of them), but they're all scattered and some are also out of date (I've already "rethought" everything differently). I mean, sort of like an external Codex. Oh, I think I'm getting carried away again.

Defiant Explorer

Hello to you D.E. [^👋^] First of all, I wanted to thank you for your completely logical answer regarding the dialogues. To tell the truth, I'm feeling slighty... Uh? ...stupid for asking you such a question. So yes I'm quite embarrassed it's true, sorry for that and so I will just try to ask more relevant things for my next questions;-😓). But know nevertheless that I always look forward to questioning this good old Lynis, in length, in breadth, and in across! Predominatingly because (I willingly admit it of course) I like to have more informations/details about your fabulous medieval world. Yeah it's very clear, I'm really a big fan of your fantastic universe, (super well constructed) in fact it's a real treat in each of my parts!&! So thank to you and thank you AGAIN D.E. for your very good writing work, and know that I will support you as long as I can... P.S. • Speaking of support: I have to say that I don't understand why you got so many unsubscribes lately. Maybe these people are too impatient?-🤔-? In any case if they imagine that you are seeking to their inspire (according to them) a sort of < pity >, given your personal situation, well; for my part, I remain convinced that these people are HEAVILY mistaken. Last point: You tell us that your conscience is clear on this subject, which is franckly a good thing from my point of view. Oh yes! I sincerely think that your words here are honest and also that your integrity towards your fans no longer needs to be demonstrated... Anyway, good luck for the rest of your projects D.E., and equally I really hope the best for yourself and likewise for your loved ones. 💟

Lonely Wolf

I don't just don't want to talk about it, I hate to talk about it. Yesterday I decided to ignore this whole topic here entirely for the future. I will only answer, but not start. The reason? A lot of unsubscribes, including the ones right after that post of mine. People probably think I'm just trying to push pity or something. Huh. I don't know, maybe subconsciously. On a conscious level, my conscience is clear. But anyway, it won't happen here again. So, yeah, I also hope me and my relatives will be okay. But given that bitchy geography, there is only one direction this can go eventually - west, right at my city, back to where they were at the start of this war. Then it was... noisy. And smoky. Shit. I really hope this ends before it gets to that point. Again.

Defiant Explorer

I know you don't want talk about the current situation in your country, but I hope you will be OK.

DamnedFrog

A number of dialogs or scenes involve more possibilities and options simply by virtue of their nature. For example, when you can ask someone about different topics (which can be done in any order) or when a situation can turn out in different ways. Such moments have been in the game before. The more "simple" ones usually follow a specific, focused theme, but that's not always possible.

Defiant Explorer

Hi to you D.E.! [^-☝️-^] Ah yes! Fresh news, there's no doubt: it's always nice!-☺️-! I pass quickly for tell you that I know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about informatics sequencing on Twine/Sugarcube, but I must say that in your two visual examples, well; it's the day and the night!!! In any case if I understand well this is what requires more work from you... And besides I was wondering what caused this < complexity > of the dialogues? I mean: you really have put the package this time (compared to the dialogues in previous updates)?+? P.S. / It will be OK, we'll wait, take the time you need to do things well and please don't stress yourself out unnecessarily. \

Lonely Wolf

It reminds me of the code room from wreck-it-ralph.
