The advance
Added 2024-09-29 19:49:09 +0000 UTCHere they go, advancing towards the walls. As you can see, I got bored at this point, and I never managed to fill in the detail on the far side. Nowadays, I'd use the decimator plugin to make low-poly copies of the figures that I could cram in ten or so to a render, but at this point I was still working in fours and fives. I realised that with this camera angle, I couldn't render enough figures in the scene to make the ranks look convincing: For every one in the front rank, I'd need the rest positioned behind her to make the block of troops look large enough, and that meant I wouldn't be able to get the shadows right on the front rank, not to mention that I'd need about twenty more renders to fill in the far side of the ram.
Look at that banner though- I was really pleased with that.
