Macintosh LC475 video by iiiDIY

If you have not seen it already, I was invited to do a bit in iiiDIY's video on the LC475. It was the first time I'd been asked to do content for another channel, and, although we had to do it completely virtually, it was good fun! My input aside, iiiDIY offers great insights into how to properly restore and enhance these classic Mac computers.

Merry Xmas. Hope someone brought you some vintage goodies. :) I'm going to get an empty LC shell to replace the one I've got. No one has (at least that I know of) done a 3d render of this model for 3d printing yet.

I don’t think they’ve gone that far with the LC’s. It’s possible that it’s reaching a level of popularity that someone might do it, but I don’t think the demand is there yet.

I was hoping for a “wah-wah” after that line. None-the-less, great video.

2 of the 3 patrons i support in a collab? Whoa! When is action retro going to join?

One part that I don't think anyone has really tackled other than elements addressed by MacEffects are the brittle plastics on this era machine. Unfortunately, the LC III I picked up a few weeks ago that I mentioned in another post; the case is completely trashed... I asked someone on Fiverr if they can 3d scan (or CAD) the pizza box case for 3d printing or if you really want to spend some money; injection molding. We'll see if they can do it. :) Do you think this is something worth doing or if someone else has already addressed it?

"So much so that I'm pretty certain Michael Spinder had nothing to do with it." :D

You're welcome! Clearly a minor contribution to an impressive video that I was happy to be part of.

Yes, good point! Another example of a one-use case orphaned by lack of room for a CD-ROM. Also the first Mac since the Plus to have a price less than $1000.

Amazing video! I didn’t know much if anything about the Quadra 605 before this video. Much like the IIsi, was the 605’s form factor ever used again?

Corbin Johnson

It was a pleasure riffing with you, and an honour to host your mini-episode on the Quadra 610 Mini's sibling! :) Thanks again!
