Alexander Brandon

Alex Brandon connected with my channel after the Apple Network Server video, noting that he composed the Unreal Tournament music that I used in my fake 7300 video as well as being the voice of Job Bot in the Job Simulator VR game also shown briefly in the video. Obviously he has no business offering his services for my videos but he has anyway.

For the new video, I needed someone to do an impression of Radio Shack's John V Roach making a disparaging remark against Texas Instruments' first home computer, seeing as the quotation was only recorded in newsprint. That was beyond my ability unless me trying a Texas accent was the joke. I sent him a video sample of John speaking, but Jon Shirley was also speaking in the video. Alex wasn't sure which John/Jon I meant, so he just did an impression of both! Also degrading the audio quality so it sounds like it's from the period. It's very impressive when you get to see first-hand how good some of these professionals are.

Comments

Very obscure indeed, and with a link to Canada! I would expect nothing less in a Mac Folklore Radio comment.

Ooooh, 65scribe rubbing shoulders with celebrities. Who knows what's next? Alex Brandon was also a tracker musician BITD—"Siren" of KFMF. Unreal (1998) used ScreamTracker music modules, and (fun but extremely obscure fact) the Mac port used the Canadian! Zerius Sound System to play those modules.

That’s true. There’s definitely effort. I guess the recent trailers have spiked everyone’s interest again. They are still keeping the narrative close to the vest and I wish there had been a world-building trailer that referenced the colony, the Marathon hanging in orbit, the 8 planetside AIs, …Bob. It’s a strong foundation to build on, so I hope they take advantage.

Hey! I know you’ve already expressed your lack of interest in the new Marathon game but according to popular streamer Dr. Lupo, they have been play testing and iterating in the game for over 7 years. So, whether or not it’s good, it’s nice to know that they are putting in some serious effort and it isn’t just some quick cash grab on an existing IP. Anyways, I thought you might find that interesting.
